Summers in Tucson.
I can remember summer days like today. When I was young I thought they took forever and that was fine by me.
This day was only in the 90's so back in the day I would bike ride with my friends or find a spot out of my mother's way, and waste a day reading a whole book.
Sometimes take some change to the local Quick Mart and go into a sugar coma.
Some of my favorite paperbacks came from that Quick Mart.
Playing with the Cochran girls. Going to the river bed and looking for "sand rubies". I never found any, too blind I guess. But it was fun looking.
Riding my bike as fast as I could on the dirt road and seeing if I was fast enough so the neighborhood dogs wouldn't notice me and bark.
The taste of cold sun tea after playing all day.
Grandma's sewing machine on the dining room table as she would make school clothing for me as the dreaded first day of school got closer.
The sound of my grandfather's footsteps on the wood porch when he got home for dinner.
I'm approaching retirement and now I have new memories to work on in the summer. Wish me luck.
