Okay I have to say it, why aren't we raising our daughters better? I ask this when all this sexual abuse keeps turning up?
I don't blame the victims I totally blame the ass holes who think they are all that and a bag of chips. What I am saying is why is it taking so long for women to speak up?
Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, Donald Trump and the list goes on....What would have happened if the first women, had drug themselves to a police station and said, "I have been abused, and I want to press charges". How many other women could they have saved?
I have been assaulted twice. Once as a kid by a preacher. Not a great moment in my life, but I went home and told my grandmother, who promptly took a gun and when looking for the said pervert. When she couldn't find him she called the cops.
Not a great experience for me, the best part is when the cop asked my 9 year old self what I had done to lead Pastor Pervert on, I was sure Grandma was going to use the gun on him!
Nothing was done to him, but since I was the first to speak up, he had a record of interest. Three years later he was serving time, several other girls spoke up, and because I had, the cops took notice this time.
Fast forward several years, I am divorced and go on a blind date for drinks. I can't stay because I have work. He walks me to my car, and gets overly aggressive because I won't go home with him after a 40 minute meeting. He slapped me silly, knocking me down and sending my eye glasses across the parking lot. I remember slowing standing up with the intention of killing him , when the manager of the café we just left, who was outside taking a smoking break, saw what happened and came over stood between us and yelled for his waitress to call the police.
He made sure my "date" stayed put, while said date yelled obscenities at me. The cops came and he was in jail for the night. He only got probation because he had NO history of abuse. (yet) Since I was 32 and he was 40 I'm pretty sure this was NOT the first time he had done this.
Six months later he did it again, this time he raped a women in a parking lot who refused to go home with him. Major jail time this time. And frankly I think he would have just gotten a slap in the wrists had I kept my mouth shut when he hit me.
There will ALWAYS be men who think they have power and a right to abuse a woman, but we need to raise our daughters to not stand by and take it. I'm not saying physical fighting will save them, but report their sorry pervert ass!!!
Women are the strongest beings in the world and we as parents, the older generation, whatever you want to call us, need to tell our daughters to stand up and tell!
It helps NO one to wait YEARS and then mention it. You have put more women in danger doing that! Stand up, your family, friends and other victims are there for you!
